So Are We Actually Ghost Hunting???
As a medium I am always being asked the question about how I see ghosts. I have obviously realized that people think that the energy I work with as a medium is a ghost. In reality it's not. It’s a spirit. So is there a difference?
To explain ghosts I need to really simplify the phenomena. To all intents and purposes a ghost is a recording. It is something that can be viewed by absolutely anyone. You don't have to be "psychic" to see a ghost. Providing the atmospheric conditions are right, they are there to be seen. A ghost is an energy that is caught in its own time. It will not interact with us because as far as they are concerned we are not there. It also explains some of the common ghost related attributes. The fact that they "walk through walls" or "float in the air". What is actually happening there is that they are walking a path that is now blocked by a wall. In their time that wall was not there so there is nothing to walk through. In cases of the floating spirits it's usually the fact that the floor was at a different height to its current position. The best story I have heard of this is a nightclub in Derby that used to be part of a monastery. Quite often in the early hours of the morning a line of monks was seen going along this certain floor but only from the waist up. Records show that the floor of the monastery was actually three feet lower that the current floor.
Spirit energy is a lot more complex. It's a living energy. Let's face it there is the old thing about energy that says it can not be destroyed; only changed. I know this is open to our belief systems but I truly feel that the energy that gives us our life force lives on when our body can no longer house it. Everything that we have been is harnessed in that energy. Those of us who wish to use our "Sixth Sense" (everyone on Earth is capable of using it if they wish to) can pick up on that energy and through it relay those messages of love and support to pass on to their loved ones left here. That doesn’t mean that the spirit stuff is all "Love n Light". There are some pretty bad energies out there (living and passed). If a person was a bit of a bad one when on the Earth, they are no different now. If they were different how would anyone recognize them???
There is also the "Residual" energy. That is the energy most people use on ghost hunts. It is the energy that is trapped in the very fabric of the building. There would be little point to the little old lady being sensed in the corner of a 500 year old building, passing on love and support to anyone present. No one would know her and in could in no way relate to that. What tends to happen in those circumstances is that we get more about the history of the building and time frame that the spirit occupied.
One other energy that people often ask me about is the dreaded Poltergeist. Translated from the German it means "noisy ghost". The way I look at them they are attention-seeking spirits. They are actually spirits so the ghost bit is irrelevant. They probably interact more than any other type of spirit of course. To my way of thinking they just need to be recognized as still being around. OK their methods leave a lot to be desired but they certainly get recognized.
